Cannot Install AutoCAD 2015 SP1

I have a 64 bit machine with 2015 PDS installed.  I get this message (see image) when I try to run AutoCAD_2015_SP1_64bit.exe.  The notes say that you can use this patch for PDS.  Anyone have a clue?

Thanks, Kim

I don't suppose the 32-bit version of the suite was installed on your Win7x64? The x64 SP would give this error in this case.

Otherwise, I'm not sure other than an error somewhere (registry?) that is telling the SP the wrong info.

No, I installed the 64 bit version.  It's in Program Files, not Program Files(x86).  I think your second assumption might be correct,  a registry problem.

Thanks

Start AutoCAD (not MECH or ELEC which are also in your bundle), open a file, save it and close AutoCAD. Now double-click in Windows Explorer to ensure Windows has assigned the DWG file to plain-Jane AutoCAD (not MECH nor ELEC).
Now try the SP1 again: if it still fails you need to wait for an Autodesk staffer to come along and help.

I tried what you said Dean and AutoCAD is what loads.  I don't use Mech.  I did post in Installation & Licensing.  Am I missing something?

I guess I have to talk to Autodesk.

Thanks,  Kim

are you running autocad from the autocad mechanical or electrial installation?

because the product design suite does not come with a separate installation of autocad

the autocad installation is coming from the Autocad mechanical or electrical install

which the autocad service pack will not work with

Why do the notes for the SP say this:

This Service Pack can be applied to AutoCAD 2015 and AutoCAD LT 2015 installed as a standalone application as well as AutoCAD 2015 and AutoCAD LT 2015 installed from the following suites or bundled products.

  • Autodesk AutoCAD Design Suite 2015
  • Autodesk AutoCAD Inventor LT Suite 2015
  • Autodesk AutoCAD Revit LT Suite 2015
  • Autodesk AutoCAD with Advance Steel 2015
  • Autodesk Building Design Suite 2015
  • Autodesk Factory Design Suite 2015
  • Autodesk Infrastructure Design Suite 2015
  • Autodesk Plant Design Suite 2015
  • Autodesk Product Design Suite 2015

AutoCAD is not running when installing the SP.

Darren, maybe you can clarify something.

I was told that starting with 2015 SP, the "AutoCAD" SP (like the one just released) applys the "AutoCAD" fixes to "AutoCAD" and to any "verticals" in a suite that includes AutoCAD.

For example: When I apply AutoCAD 2015 SP1 to my Infrastructure Design Suite, the AutoCAD applicable fixes should apply to "AutoCAD" and to "Civil 3D" & I do not have to wait on the C3D SP to correct all the vanilla AutoCAD bugs.

this is the first i have heard of this

if this is the case

lets see if this system variable is in Civil 3d 2015 after you installed the Autocad 2015 sp 1

CURSORBADGE (System Variable)

Controls the display of visual aide badges near the cursor.

Type: Integer Saved in: Registry Initial value: 2

1 - Turn off all new badges 2 - Turn on all badges (Default)

Badges that will be disabled:

  • Selection - cross and window selection
  • Inspection

  • Move
  • Rotate
  • Scale
  • Zoom
  • Add vertex
  • Covert to arc
  • Hatch inherit property

No, 2015 SP1 did not add this sysvar to C3D 2015, but it did add it to AutoCAD 2015

Darren, check out posts 76-80 in this thread.

"...AutoCAD Mechanical 2013 (run as vanilla ACAD)..."
Verticals get their own updates later. This SP will not work there.

I finally found a solution.  I used Autodesk's new Application Manager and it installed SP1 with no problem.

Geeessshhh!!

No problem R.K.

I remember a couple months ago I read about the App Manager from an "expert" and he poo-pooed it as being more bloated software from Autodesk, so I kind of ignored it since and thought "well I don't need to use that thing either."

Well I just got back from two weeks vacation and I fired up AutoCAD and this App Manager is staring me in the face for an update, so I downloaded it. The first option to update was the SP1.  I ran it.  Wha-lah!  It worked.

What can I say...
