Can't get 3ds max 15 to install at all.

When I try to install the programme from the broswer, the installer initializes and then comes up with "Setup Initialization failed connecton has expired. Please reconnect to site. Anyone know how to fix this?

Im running windows 8.1

I would recommend that you try downloading your product using the virtual assistant by following the directions here:

Same issue/situation as OP. Followed the instructions for the Virtual Agent link above. Got this....

I have the same issue, I tried installing 3DS Max 2015 64bit about 3 times via the install now button.

Then I tried the download now button, but the download manager gives connection error.

So I tried the browser download button, but in Chrome it quits immediatly and in IE it stops around 86%.

Then I tried downloading it on my mac in Safari, but same problem. Download quits at around 86%.

Then I found a post about using Virtual Agent, but when trying to download 3DS Max 2015 64bit version I get the 404 error:

This is the error log I get when using 'Install Now". Could it be because I'm using the internet over wifi?

I got it installed after downloading the trial version from this page (bottom - http://www.autodesk.com/products/3ds-max/overview) and using the 'Download Now' option.

This will download the multilingual version via the download manager.

Hope this helps you.

Did you also try it from following page : http://www.autodesk.com/products/3ds-max/overview ?

Is an other page than for the student version, but you can use this trial version and enter the serial key and product key that you get for the student version.
