Can I run 2 realease versions on the same Lic server

If I have 8 seats of Inventor 11 all on a net. lic w/ subcription, can I upgrade the flexLM and let some of the users stay at Inv 11 while others move on to 2008?

I'm asking only about the flexLM stuff, I understand the backwards caompatibility issues w/ Inventor.

I suppose I could pose the same question for AutoCAD if that helps anyone who's not familiar with Inventor.

If I have 8 seats of AutoCAD 07 all on a net. lic w/ subcription, can I upgrade the flexLM and let some of the users stay at AutoCAD 07 while others move on to 2008?

Yes, but per the EULA not more than 8 seats total of 07 and 08 can be used at the same time. That means you can use 5 of the older and 3 of the newer at the same time. Using more than this would violate the license agreement. Subscription allows you to continue to use your older products.

And if you want to be able to make sure you comply with the EULA JTB
FlexReport can group together the usage of your different versions of
AutoCAD.

Not sure if this is answering the question but I spoke with a tech from our reseller who mentioned that autodesk has yet to successfully run two license files on the same server. I've found that the '#' can be used as a comment before the licenses in the .lic file. We now add all licenses that utilize flexLM to one .lic file.

Yes a common way to solve such is by merging the license files. One needs to
be really careful about doing that though. A lot of things can go wrong
which can cause more problem than it solves.
