Borrowing a License

Hello,

I have a problem that neither I nor my company's IT department can solve. My company has a License Server for AutoCAD and I am using a Laptop. The AutoCAD License Borrowing Utility allows me to borrow a license. When I refresh the screen the Utility shows that I have borrowed a license. Then I go open AutoCAD while still connected to the network and I receive a message saying I have borrowed a license and it will expire on " ". My issue is when I disconnect from the network and try to run AutoCAD I dialog box asking to specify the location of the license file. I can not find a license file anywhere on my computer after I borrow one. Does anyone know where the "borrowed" license file is stored on the computer or is there something different I can do to solve this issue? My computer is the only one that has this issue, other Laptops within the company operate AutoCAD after borrowing a license no problem. I am running Windows 2000 NT. Thank you

Do you have the same network adapter both when you are connected to the
network and when you disconnect?

I believe the borrowed license is tied to the network adapter in use at the
time you borrow it. If, for example, your laptop is in a docking station
with its own network adapter, the borrowed license may be bound to the dock,
causing your problem when undocked.

This is just a guess. How is your laptop different from the others?

Are you logging into the same user profile when you are away from the network? I think that the licenses are user specific.

My guess is that Cy's is the answer but if not look in this direction.

When you logon connected to the network, does it use a local or roaming profile, it will be local when you are standalone, but if it is different profile. that might seem different to the licence?

Thank you for all your help, the issue I was having is created due to having my network card (port) being located on the side of my computer and when using a docking station, the computer creates a second Network Adapter cause the network runs through the docking station. The docking station has a different MAC number assocaited with the network card. Therefore, when I disconnect from the network, the second Adapter disapers cause the computer knows I'm not using the docking station anymore. Since the license file is writen or stored to that Network Adapter, when I disconnect from the network I lose the license. Once again thank you for your help.
