Autodesk product failed to send the required value for SERIALNUM

Our client has installed Product Design Suite 2012 on an XP SP3 system with an Intel chipset for video.

Status

Sketchbook Designer     Works

AutoCAD Mechanical     Starts, but displays a message "An Autodesk product failed to send the required value for SERIALNUM.  The error report sent to Autodesk may be incomplete." Mechanical appears to work after that message is dismissed.

Inventor                          Crashes at startup, crash report sent

Showcase                      Crashes at startup, crash report sent

3ds Max Design            Works

Mudbox                          Crashes, crash report sent.

Fusion                            Works

The client has uninstalled, cleaned registry/folders, and reinstalled. The problems persist.

They appear to have an Internet connection. Crash reports are being successfully sent and replies received.

Advice to resolve this would be appreciated.

Best regards,

J. Berns

Stanski,

I'm with you there. Nothing works, I keep getting told to check the 3.5.net, uninstalll-reinstall. There is a problem with APPRENTICEREGSVR.EXE, on my system.

Hello Kevin,

Could you please attached the error message to have a look?

Whether you get the error message of APPRENTICEREGSVR.EXE from Windows Application Event?

Did you try to copy the APPRENTICEREGSVR.EXE file from the installation package to replace the one which installed in your machine to see whether it works?

Hello Stanski,

Could you please check the Windows Application Event to see whether there is any error log recorded after you failed to launch Inventor? If there is, it does helpful for us to investigate.

Thank you all!

Regards,

Helen

Hello Kevin,

Our developer checked the log file from you, looks like there might be something cause ApprenticeRegSvr.exe file is incompatible with your OS.

Is it possible that you can allow our developer to remote your machine to have a check? Like use NetMeeting or something else if it's possible for you.

Regards,

Helen

I'm operating on an AMDx64 2.4gig dual core processor, 4gb ram, Geforce 6150le integrated graphics, windows 7 home premium. It's not the system. The program actually opened last night for the first time, and is running fine. I didn't do anything other than click on the Inventor icon. This leads me to believe that there are issues with the program itself. However if when I close this inventor12 program and it does not open again, I will need the info to get in touch with your technician, to track down application bugs.

One problem that I see is that Autodesk upgrades their programs too much, I was taught a long time ago, if it's not broke, don't fix it.

Thanks Helen.

So is there a proper solution yet for us measly XP users that doesn't involve a complete system re-install?

Just spent 2 hrs on a remote access program debug to no avail. The program opened once, but back to the SOS! I give up, think I'll just uninstall it for the last time and leave it at that.

Message 33 of 47

So another month and any more news?

Frankly it's disgusting that a £5k+ program suite just doesn't work and there is little or no backup or assistance to get it working. I've used 2D AutoCAD on and off for years and there have always been minor niggles which have always been solved, but this particular issue is without solution.

I have to keep using other peoples' machines to get onto Inventor which is extremely disrupting and invoncenient and totally defeats the object of my company spending so much money on the software suite in the first place.

Message 34 of 47

Hello Stanski,

We are really very sorry for any inconvenience.

Our developer team is continuing investigating this issue, however so far we haven’t found better solutions yet…

We will keep you posted if there is any update later.

Thank you very much for your cooperation and patient.

Helen

Hi

[SOLVED]

Hi, I just did a reinstall of Inventor and it now works.

[/SOLVED]

I'm using Inventor 2012 at my work and it have worked all the time until I updated Design Review to ver 2013.

Now Inventor doesn't start anymore.

Other Autodesk softwares works, Autodesk Collaboration, Autocad 2012, Inventor Fusion, but not Inventor 2012...  the program I use most and is vital for my work.....

I have tried updating .Net, enabling/disabling it. Restarting windows like mad.. Uninstalling Design Review...

But nothing yet.

Going to reinstall Inventor to see if it works.

Have you found any solutions yet??

/Philip

Hi

Everything is working fine after the reinstall of Inventor. Working as normal. Still crashes almost everyday 🙂 but that is a different matter. I do think the problem solved itself when it reinstalled Design Review 2012 automatically.

Hello, there is a problem with Fonts in Inventor 2012. There is no solution to this problem, it is a program error. You will have to download a newer version of inventor.
