Autodesk Vault update 1 fails to install

First, after installing AutoDesk Vault 2011 on a working 2010 setup, we can no longer access licenses. In the morning we were getting Autocad electrical licenses fine after updating the license to 2011. Then this afternoon we installed 2011 Vault on the server. Nothing else. Now we can not get license files anylonger.

Sooo, I see that there is a new Autodesk Vault 2011 Update 1. I get it. Read the dangerous warning about doing everything right. Follow the instructions to the T. And the install fails with the error " Error 1305. Error reading file: C:/windows/installer/793fa.msi. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it."
I do so. It exists. Right where you say you can't find it. I can access it.
So, after trying again and again, I do access it. It is the change / remove file for Vault server. Now the other crazy complaint is that there are no instruction for determining if the Update 1 has been installed or not. Pretty bad designing on someone's part. But the real problem is that we still are dead in the water with respect to getting licenses.

The FLexLM license manager does show that there are available licenses and that none are checked out.

Help.?!?

In order to better understand your environment and track down the nature of
the failure, I would need more information ...

To confirm that this problem has to do with licensing (and not something
else), can you run the ADMS-Console and see your vaults? (ADMS-Console does
not consume a license).

What version of Windows is on the license manager host and the ADMS host?
Are they on the same host?

Has the license manager been upgraded to the version shipped with Autodesk
2011 products? I think it's supposed to FlexLM v11.7.

Is the LICPATH.lic file for the ADMS pointing at the correct license manager
host? The installer fills in the license server name - it might default to
the machine the ADMS is installed on so you may need to correct it if the
license manager is on a different host.

What does the vault server log (aka vlog) say with respect to the failure to
get a license?
Alongside the vlog (on the server) is a licensingLog.txt file that has
additional information about license failures - what does it say?
Bot of these files are typically located in the root of the vault
filestore(s). The vlog files can be viewed directly in ADMS-Console.

Finally, there is a logfile for the license manager (if you configured
one) - does it contain any useful information?

Hi Check your CD / DVD and check your Drive, sometimes this error is indicating a glich on one or the other. A work round would be to transfer the disk contents to a hard drive and run the install from there. Good luck.
