Hi all,
I have made a deployment using the Autocad Electrical 2011 DVD's. This gives me the basic structure of "Admin image" "Tools" and "Autocad Electrical 2011 shortcut to setup.exe
If I make an .mst and try to point to the msi the deployment made, which resides in "admin image\x86\acade\acade.msi" It fails everytime. saying it is not a "valid windows installer package"
Even If I try to manually run the .msi by itself, it says "autcad must be installed using the setup.exe"
How am I supposed to deploy this through SMS or GP if I cant run the .msi...??? Thanks
for GPO there should be another msi created in the admin image folder. Please refer to the document here
http://docs.autodesk.com/ACD/2011/ENU/filesInstall/WS1a9193826455f5ff4e421d7d11bf108001d-4f14.htm
in case if you have issues ; you can add additional mst file from the Languagepack.
Even when using the GPO.msi It still doesnt load. And, I want to use SMS to deploy this software. There has to be a problem with the .msi that the Deployement makes. It should install from the msi otherwise, whats the point of making the msi?
Are you getting same error with msiexec and command line. if you can provide the exact command line we can comment further.
deployment image is to add most customization into the msi/mst. command line(against setup.exe) has limited parameters
using DVD source(setup.exe). you can use something similar following command line (for network license), there are limited options in the command line. documentation has more parameters explained.
"D:\setup.exe" /t /qb /Language en-US /c ACAD: INSTALLDIR="C:\Program Files\AutoCAD 2010 en-US\" ACADSERIALPREFIX=123ACADSERIALNUMBER=12345678ADLM_PRODKEY=ABCDE ACADFIRSTNAME="My First Name" ACADLASTNAME="My Last Name" ACADORGANIZATION="Organization" InstallLevel=5 ACADSTANDALONENETWORKTYPE="3" ACADLICENSESERVERTYPE="Single Server License" ACADLICENSETYPE="Network License" ACADSERVERPATH="myFlexNetServer 000000000000"
This is the batch file I am placing into the administrative command prompt and getting errors with. (It is very simliar to our current working AE 2009 sms package)
msiexec /i "\\sms directory\AutoCad Electrical 2011\AdminImage\x86\acade\acad.msi" TRANSFORMS="\\sms directory\AutoCad Electrical 2011\AdminImage\x86\acade\acad-AutoCad Electrical 2011.mst" /qb!
i have also tried with the acade.msi being replaced with the GPO.msi
please try to add the acad.mst file from the Language pack directory into the Transforms.
In the Following folder within the admin image there is a acad.mst and also acadELP.msi Were would these be placed in that batch file in your opinion?
AutoCad Electrical 2011\AdminImage\x86\en-US\acade.mst
AutoCad Electrical 2011\AdminImage\x86\en-US\acade\AcadELP.msi
you will need to run both the msi files separately in the order.
msiexec /i "\\sms directory\AutoCad Electrical 2011\AdminImage\x86\acade\acad.msi" TRANSFORMS="\\sms directory\AutoCad Electrical 2011\AdminImage\x86\acade\acad-AutoCad Electrical 2011.mst;\\sms directory\AutoCad Electrical 2011\AdminImage\x86\en-US\acade.mst" /qb!
msiexec /i "\\sms directory\AutoCad Electrical 2011\AdminImage\x86\en-US\acade\AcadELP.msi" TRANSFORMS="\\sms directory\AutoCad Electrical 2011\AdminImage\x86\acade\acad-AutoCad Electrical 2011.mst" /qb!
I will try that, however I dont see how It will work, when the script is failing at the point of the installer msi in the first script line.
Still the exact error im getting:
"The Installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exsist and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer package"
This is getting out of hand. it's way too much time my company is wasting on this problem. There must be a solution. I surely cannot be the first person to create an SMS package for Autocad Electrical 2011
why don't you try the documented sccm method to deploy. it runs with setup.exe and has been tested.
Do you have a link to the document you are reffering to? I have printed out the 2010 Document but cannot find the 2011 Electrical document. Thanks
SCCM deployment is almost same as Autocad and other verticals. please refer to the
Autocad SCCM documentation here

Key points to note are(item 7 and 10)

Ok so after trying to install using the GPO route.
I am gettig the following error when running the acade.msi and the "mydeployment".mst along with the "GPO.mst"
"AcadeMsiUI Error"
"failed to load AcadeMsiUI.dll"
Do you happen to know why I am getting this and or were is this trying to install this .dll from?
Did you install the Language pack msi (acadlp.msi i think)
