You will find the Install and licensing documentation that you are looking for as Microsoft Compiled HTML Help (.chm) files:
acad_install.chm (Install and Deployment Documentation)
adsk_brw.chm (Stand-Alone and Network License manager documentation)
The documentation for the GPO method of install can be found by opening the acad_install.chm then > ‘Distributing an Autodesk Program' > ‘Use Group Policies to Run a Deployment.'
It sounds like the installer is failing because Prerequisites have not been installed. The 2011 Prerequisites for the GPO install method are:
Available on the product disc:
- Microsoft .NET 3.5 SP1
- DirectX 9.0C
- VC++ 2008 SP1 and VC++2005 SP1 runtimes for x86 operating systems; VC++2008 SP1 and VC++2005 SP1 runtimes for x64 for 64-bit operating systems
- Microsoft National Language Support Downlevel APIs
- FARO LS
- Autodesk Design Review 2011 (Not installed by default)
- Macromedia Flash Player 9.0 or later (Not installed by default)
- Autodesk Material Library 2011(CM)
- Autodesk Material Library 2011 Base Image Library (ILL)
- Autodesk Material Library 2011(CM)
Other:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer version 7.0 Service Pack 1 or later. You can download Microsoft Internet Explorer from the Microsoft website by visiting www.microsoft.com.
- Microsoft Installer Package (MSI) 4.5
- Microsoft Windows Media Format 9.5 (prerequisite for 64-bit)

My previous response is not going to work for plain AutoCAD 2011. AutoCAD 2011 documentation is now in HTML and hosted at autodesk.com. You will find the documentation for plain AutoCAD 2011 here.
Also, for your convenience, is a link directly to the Use Group Policies to Run a Deployment topic.
The CHM files I reference are specific to AutoCAD Map 3D 2011 and may apply to other AutoCAD verticals.
