Autocad 2010 missing html file

I am trying to run a thorough inventory of the licenses that we are currently using, and have tried to find out exactly what activation codes are operating per machines serials. However, I have a vanilla 2010 license that I know the serial to, but cannot seem to find the autocad generated html file that tells what activation code it is currently using for that license. I looked at the usual suspect of: Documents and Settings/All Users/Application Data/..../ADLM/.

The four files (one of which being the html) that are usually there, are not in this particular seat for some reason. Is there any other way to try to find out what activation code this machine is using so that I can update my inventory? Thanks.

Activation codes are machine specfic and not serial number specific. Therefore, having the activation codes will do you no good when reinstalling the software. You will need to get all new activation codes.

I am not updating softwares, on that machine, at this time. I am just trying to find out what activation code was given to that particular machine when it was installed, so that I can have it on file.

I believe the file you are looking for is "...\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Autodesk\Adlm\ACD2010en_USRegEmail.xml." If you are browsing in to the product folder you will not find this file. If you cannot find this information there is nothing to be concerned about as you can reactivate without it and may have a new request code requiring a new activation codeif you reinstall and remove the license.

This will not return the request and activation codes used but if you are interested in inventorying your install base I'd suggest you use the new Autodesk Asset Locator. This tool replaces the Autodesk Product Manager and enables you to search a network to find installed Autodesk products and identify their locations.

You will find a posting from Tom Stoeckel on the Without a Net blog. Tom has included a link to the Autodesk Asset Locator web page where you can download and find documentation for this tool. This tool is included on the AutoCAD 2011 media or download.

Thanks Douglas. That is exactly the file I am looking for, as well as the purpose of the exercise. I will download the Asset Locator and give it a shot. I am curious however, how the one particular seat managed to not have that file(s) in the Adlm directory. This is the first time I have encountered them not being there.

Maybe in a reinstall the files were cleared but the license remained. This would not require a reactivation and would therefore not recreate this file. Otherwise I cannot say for certain; just that it is apparently not there.
