AutoCAD on Solaris??? Urgent!!!

Hi.

I am interested in some answers for the following questions:

- Can ADT be loaded on to a machine with Sun Solaris?? (I think its not
possible, still I need a confirmation).
- If ADT cannot be loaded onto Sun Solaris, can the data (that is, the
drawing files) be stored & accessed from a data server which has sun solaris
as OS?
- Last, can ADT or AutoCAD be loaded on one server and accessed from
another machine which does not have the software loaded? I am not talking of
the LAN version of AutoCAD/ADT. This feature was available in earlier
versions like R12 where the software is loaded in a Server and accessed by
invoking it by a shortcut in the client machine. Is this possible?

I request for a reply as soon as possible.
Thanx in advance.

Phani -
Can ADT be loaded on Solaris?? No. Nothing but win32 is supported for any flavor of
autocad (as far as I know).

Can the Data be stored on a Solaris server?? Yes, probably, but if you have problems that
can't be reproduced on a win32 server you are basically "unsupported". I've never actually
tried this, but it should work. I've seen a number of people that have file locking
problems with non win32 based servers.

Can ADT be loaded on a server and accessed from a machine that doesn't have it installed??
Well, kinda. You can locate the exe's on a server, but you still have to run an install
on any client that needs to run autocad. Some of the files are placed on the client
machine but most are kept on the server. It is not possible to just create a shortcut to
the acad.exe like was in R12. See
http://support.autodesk.com/knowledgebase/html/147748.htm for some information (this tech
doc is based on R14, and although there are some major differences in licensing
procedures, the overall installation procedure is similar) on the network deployment.
