AutoCAD Map 3D 2012 together with Citrix

Hi!
As ObjectARX-developers we have a problem at one particular customer. Strange crashes occur which do not occur on other pc's we have tested. This customer is using Citrix (XenApp) for many Office applications. Although AutoCAD Map 3D 2012 is installed locally and not through Citrix, I am starting to think Citrix might be a part of the problem.
Any insight into this or hints on where to look would be appreciated! I have nothing else than a very basic understanding of Citrix.
Another point is that their Windows security options are quite strict, could there be something there that prevents AutoCAD from doing something and thereby crashing?
The crash happens when our module is creating something in the database. But never on plain AutoCAD, just with Map...
Thank you!

Map 3D 2012 is certified for use on Citrix, so I doubt that is the problem. It's more than likely a permissions issue since you should have local administrator rights or power user rights at minimum to run this application. AutoCAD can run as a restricted user in most cases, which is why you're probably not experiencing problems there.
Try elevating your user rights lovcally, even temporarily to see if the problem disappears. Restrictive rights are more problems than its worth. There's no reason for a user to have local admin/power user rights to their own machine. It does not elevate any additional privileges on the domain.

Thanks for the tip! I wasn't aware that plain AutoCAD and Map had different demands to user rights! I'll give it a try!
I expect you meant: "There's no reason for a user _not_ to have local admin/power user rights to their own machine.", BTW?

Mwahaha! Yes, that is correct. There is no reason for a user not to have local admin rights on their own machine. Sorry, I haven't had enough coffee this morning. ![]()

When I think about it, I'm not quite sure that's it. I think the user has local administrator rights (I'll check to be sure tomorrow [in about 14-15hrs], of course!). At least I have all privileges on my own pc. If I try this with standard AutoCAD Map, it crashes on my own pc as well. But I have received a recipy from Autodesk on how to run AutoCAD Map 3D 2012 as plain AutoCAD 2012. This works on my pc, even after upgrading to SP1. It worked fine at our users as well, until the SP1 of Map was installed.
After refixing things on my own pc (after SP1 upgrade), Map starts as plain AutoCAD again and everything is fine. But at our customer, this trick doesn't do it anymore! The problem is our customer has Map licenses, not plain AutoCAD licences...

FYI, I have another thread dealing with the same problem from a different angle here: http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/Autodesk-ObjectARX/C

My initial reaction would be to not install SP1 then on your customer. If it's not broke, don't fix it! ![]()
