I am creating a deployment for Electrical 2012. I am trying to use a shared network path for the Symbol and Catalog libraries. When creating the deployment I have entered the network share path and during the creation of the deployment the libraries are copied to the path that I have specified.
My problem is, (after installing the application form the deployment) when I choose a schematic symbol it is looking at the local hard drive of the pc and not the shared symbol library. So it appears that two copies of the symbol libraries are created, one on the local pc and one on the network share. This defeats the purpose of having a common directory.
How do I ensure that all users are looking at the same data - the libraries on the network share?
Thanks.
If you have choose to create installation log file, you could check it from it.
On the other side, you could check it from AutoCAD Electrical itself.
In the right click menu of project, choose setting, you could find all the symbol and catalog libraries location.
On the other side, you could follow the methord as help said "Setting up AutoCAD Electrical for Multiple Users" to let all client using shared symbol and catalog libraries
It appears to be set up as you suggested, but when I try to add a symbol it is still looking at the local drive and not the network share.
The wd.env is on the shared drive but the when looking at the properties of a component that I am trying to add, the path is still on the local hard drive - c:\. See attachment.
What you said is AutoCAD Electrical Menu.
If you want to set the menu icon to shared folder, you must edit the icon menu file, e.g. ACE_IEC_MENU.DAT, to the shared folder.
Then when you insert the component from Icon Menu button, the icon will use the icon at shared folder.
All these have been writen in help under "Setting up AutoCAD Electrical for Multiple Users" subject.
