AutoCAD 2012 Hanging at Checking License

Hello,

I know this has been tackled many times, but I can't seem to get this working.  We have 2 computers that are hanging when the program splash screen gets to "Checking License".  These machines are domain computers running Windows XP x86.  The same thing happens no matter what user we are logged in as, even as a user who has never used AutoCAD.  We have AutoCAD 2012 installed in other labs that are working fine.  We are using a network license with a triad system.  For license pointing, we usually use the license.lic file in the AutoCAD directory.  I can ping all 3 servers and connect through the license port.  LM diagnostics through the System Variables created a blank file.  No significant errors in the Event Viewer.

I've looked online and tried; Re-install, cleaned registry, added ADSKFLEX_LICENSE_FILE to System Variables, checked to make sure the change was reflected in the registry, turned off firewall.  From this point, I don't know what else to try.  Any suggestions?

Man, the redundant setup is just that... redundant.  I'll get off my soap box now.  Smiley Very Happy

I assume that all three of your servers are running properly and showing available licenses?  That being the case, make sure you can PING all three servers and each of them come back with the valid IPv4 address.  If the IP is not valid or it is IPv6, then you need to take corrective actions.  You can then check firewall connectivity for each server via Internet Explorer (not 3rd party browser) by typing:

http://servername:27000

http://servername:2080

Just replace servername with the hostname of each of your three servers.  Each response should yield a result similar to:

Wê-60Wê-60Wê-60Wê-60Wê-60Wê-60

If you get a 'Page cannot be displayed' error, then you have a firewall issue.  Either disable the firewall or make application exceptions for all four (4) nlm .exe files and ports 27000 and 2080.

Setting your system environment variables are important.  You need to do this correctly, especially for redundant servers.  Your ADSKFLEX_LICENSE_FILE should have values of @server1;@server2;@server3

You should also create a FLEXLM_TIMEOUT of 1000000 (one-million) as well to allow for latency in your network.

In some instances licensing has a problem with a corrupted CascadeInfo.cas file.  If so, this will affect all users on a computer.  This file can safely be deleted and it will be recreated on the next successful launch.

For more detailed information about the CascadeInfo.cas file, please refer to the Autodesk Support Knowledge Base article found here:
