AutoCAD 14 License Server - License Checkout?

Is there any way to allow a user (with a laptop) to "check out" a license
for use at home or on the road? I have the license manager installed and
working fine in-house. The users /could/ RAS in to our office, but when on
the road, long distance charges are fairly cost-prohibitive.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Unfortunately there is no "check out" at this time. If the users have
internet connectivity and the office has a full time connection you could
try a VPN solutions. We've not tried that yet but it's on my todo list
(my todo list looks a lot more like a 5 year plan than a todo list)

sorry-

Sorry, I don't think there's any way to do it with 14. The 2000i has the
option to allow for license transfers but that's a pretty steep upgrade.

Hi Eric,

Best bet for these situations is to have a standalone copy to setup on a single
system. The License manager doesn't work this way. Even in AutoCAD 2000i.
It's the same license manager. We are looking at it for future use though.

Thanks for posting

I would also like to see a way for users to temporarily check out a network license that would expire on their PC on a certain date (at that point AutoCAD wcould not be started). This would be a lot easier to administer than having a pool of local licenses that we would have to constantly keep track of. We have a need for this now, and as the workforce continues to be more mobile this need will continue escalate.

Thanks,

Rick, All,

Sorry this is not possible at this time.  I
have brought this "Wish List" to the development table and they are aware
customers want this.  We will have to wait and see if this can be
incorporated in future products.
