Applying Service Packs to Administrative Images

Hi,
I've been searching through the documentation and browsed through the post but I can not find any info on how you go about applying a service pack to a A2k2 deployment image. No one has posted any questions about it here.

The documentation talks about how to apply it to a network-heavy type network installation but I can't find a word about updating the deployment package.
Could someone either explain it to me or point me in the right direction?

If it can't be done, how can I suppress the "reboot" window after the SP has been installed? I have tried REBOOT=ReallySuppress and /Z but to no avail.

Thanks in advance

John Doyle

Patching AutoCAD 2000i Network Installation

Similar approach was also used to make AutoCAD 2002 SP1 installation package

Execute Service Pack 2 file (u090_u181p_swl.exe)
Locate file MSP2 file from the %TEMP% folder
Rename MSP2 file to MSP2.msp (Windows Installer Patch file)

Apply patch file to network installation point:
msiexec /p [path\name of update MSP file] /a [path\name of MSI file] /qb /L*
[path\name of log file]

Extract original ACAD1.cab file to empty directory

Replace original files with the SP2 ones (in folders 'Program Files' and
'Windows' under installation point)

Unzip the old acad1.cab to a separate directory, copy multiple ReadMe.txt
files to separate directories.

Create list of the files in the ACAD1.CAB
cabaarc.exe L ACAD1.CAB > list.txt

Append new files to the end of the list (e.g. list.txt) (List of the missing
files obtained with Wise Package Studio)
prodscan.exe
acadinfomsi.lsp
vercheck.arx
ProdIdUtil.txt
acsiobj.dbx
acinfomsi.lsp
Service_Pack_2_Readme.htm

Create a new ACAD1.CAB file:
cabarc N acad1.cab @list.txt

Replace the old ACAD1.CAB with the new one

You have now succesfully updated the AutoCAD 2000i installation point.
Use Group Policies to install AutoCAD 2000i to computers...

Have you tested this on Acad2k? Does it also work with extensions?

This is tedious - maybe a good extension idea would be a tool for updating
the image files!

Yes, it tedious

Yes, we would prefer Autodesk giving us proper software to update the
installation point, it's not that difficult to do. With a couple of hundred
workstations to install, we don't want to first install and then update all
the workstations as we are only now updating from 2000i to 2002.

We have tested this with 2000i and 2002, it works on both, why not the
others.
