Alias Automotive 2011 freezes at splash screen

Ive been using Alias automotive 2011 for awhile now but it recently stopped running all of a sudden.

After selecting default mode when started the splash screen stops at loading "constructing menus and shelves" and then a window comes up saying "alias application file has stopped working".

Im confused why this is happening as it was working perfectly before.

I am using vista 32 bit and alias automotive 2011 32 bit. Ive uninstalled and reinstalled the software and also have done system restore on the computer to when it was working perfectly but i still get the same problem.

Can someone help please as im in the middle of a project and really need to crack on?

Thanks in advance

This might be caused by the display adapter drivers. Have you updated them recently?

Yes i went to the Nvidia website and there scanner showed i had the most up to date driver installed, so its got me confused as it was working fine before :S

Another thing to try is to delete the CascadeInfo.cas from:

  • Windows 7 or Windows Vista location:
    • C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Adlm
  • Windows XP location:
    • C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Autodesk\Adlm

If it is corrupt it could cause startup problems. The Application rebuilds this file if you delete it.

However you are probably getting past this as the application is getting to the point where it begins to display menus. This indicates a bad display adapter, display adapter driver, or unqualified hardware.

Is your display adapter or hardware Qualified for Alias Automotive? You might step back one display adapter driver release. The qualified Nvidia driver release is 191.78.

Ive sorted it by deleting the User preferences folder as this is what the "constructing Menus and shelves" loads from.

My display drivers are up to date as ive used the Nvidia driver updater on their website and it said that i had the most recent one. And i know it is compatible with Alias as it was working fine before.

Thank you for the update. I have marked the User preferences information as the solution to this thread.

what about the mac version?

i have automotive 2011 mac student version, after upgrading to the latest osx 10.6.5, it won't start anymore!

Help! Please!

Is it because the osx 10.6.5 upgrade?
