AdlM, Novell 5 TCP/IP and NT Workstation

Hello!

When using AdlM Admin (TCP/IP Create Floating License) I don't get the
Server Code.

I do enter Key Directory: \\vf-prim\sys\adlm\key and Host Name: vf-prim.

I only get the error: Could not generate server code for vf-prim. Manually
enter Server Code.

Michael,

The Netware version of AdLM only works with IPX protocol, it does not use
TCP/IP. If you wish to use TCP/IP on your Netware server, AdLM would have to
reside and run on a Windows system, where AdLM does use TCP/IP.

Thank you!

Dos the AdlM have to run on a NT Server or is it ok on a NT 4.0 Workstation?

Hi Michael,

You can use it on NT, 95 or 98 workstation as a license manager.

Hope this helps.

Bud

To clarify Bud's answer, AdLM uses a connectionless protocol (udp) so the user
connection limit for NT Workstation does not apply. NT Workstation will work just
fine and is preferable over Windows 95 or 98. The reason is that on W 95 & 98,
someone must be logged in to the AdLM server for the license manager to be
active. On NT, AdLM will be active regardless of anyone being logged on to the
system.
