how long does it take for the activation email to be sent to the account I provided?

You should receive the email fairly quickly after you complete the registration. However, I did check your Education Community account and found that it had not been activated yet. It's possible your activation got "stuck" somehow.
Your account should not be activated and you should receive that email. If you have any other questions or you don't get the email please let me know.
