ADML on Service with 2 NICS

When I installed the ADLM using the licmgr program found the 1st NIC in
my server (this is a token ring card). I need to be to override the
value so my licmgr will funtion with the Ethernet card. My lic file
contains the MAC of the token ring card. What do I need to do to
correct this problem?

First things first. Are you using AdLM or
FlexLM? They are 2 completely different
animals.

If you are using AdLM, you're out of luck as
you can't use it reliably on a multi-homed
machine, nor can it be used reliably on a
machine with a dynamic IP address.

If you are using FlexLM, I don't know the
answer. Hopefully someone else does.

Just a bit of a follow up on Kevin's answer.

He is extremely correct in stating that if you use the Pre-2k2 version of
the adlm (elan) won't (or shouldn't, reliably) work with a multi-homed
system. Now the post 2k2 adlm (FlexLM) will work on a multi homed system
and is only dependant on the ethernet addr of the network card that you want
to use for the adlm (this is good). What I usually do on a multi-homed
system is to ping the ip addr (since the FlexLM communicates over tcp/ip, it
should have an ip addr) from an NT based (NT, 2k, XP Pro, or anything that
can do an arp) client and after the ping type arp -a (since this involved
typing in a win system I'm assuming that you know I mean at the command
prompt. For more information see
http://www.fsb-ae.com/acadnetwork/acadnetworkfaq.htm#3c and scroll down a
bit) and you can get the ethernet address of the card that you just pinged.

FlexLM Service with 2 NICS

The NIC has (2) IP Address. Can I use the IP address of the machine as the host
name with FlexLM instead of a physical machine name?

FlexLM Service with 2 NICS

The globetrotter documentation says that you can, (in the license file, correct?) but why? Isn't the host name going to resolve to
that IP address anyway?

Just because the globetrotter documentation says that you can, doesn't really mean that you can. It means probably. Just because
globetrotter has it documented, that doesn't mean that autodesk has implemented it.
