    ADLM Server on NT 4.0

We run Novell 5.0 Server and Win9x workstations. ADLM currently on Win95
PC, all use TCP/IP in same range and submask, no routers in system. All IP
addresses are static and we use ACADSERVER variable.

Have just got a few NT 4.0 (SP5) workstations and are having problems seeing
the ADLM. Client is Novell Client32 4.7 running IP only. I can login
Netware fine, and can ping ADLM server (by name), but WinQuery on NT PC says
the ADLM server is not active.

Reseller recommended installing ADLM on the NT PC - I installed it from
LDD2000 CD, and cannot get it to run. Event viewer reports "service cannot
be started because it is already running (Error 10022) on bootup. Applet in
Control Panel shows automatic, and stopped status. When I click Launch, it
returns the error saying it's already running. I have removed and installed
ADLM twice and checked TCP/IP setting. I am continuing to work with HOSTS
and LMHOSTS files to communicate with ADLM server.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Mike,

Are you running ADLM on the Novell server, or TCP/IP? what is your NEtwork
access order on your NT boxes? If it's Netware, try moving Microsoft to the
top. Only do this if you are running TCP/IP.

One other thing you can try here is to set your ACADSERVER variable using the @
    symbol.

ACADSERVER=@servername. Do this on the systems that are having a hard time
    seeing the ADLM.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks Bud

We do use @server - it speeds up winquery quite a bit. I believe Netware
is above microsoft, will try to change it as suggested.

I did try ADLM on another NT machine, and it worked fine. For some reason
the NT problem is only on the NT setup shipped from Gateway. I reloaded NT
on a PC and it's working fine using the Win95 ADLM server, but that's a pain
to do on every new workstation.

will let you know how it works.

    Hi Mike,

What Gateway do you have and what network card is it running?

    Thanks for posting back.

They are Gateway GP7-550's with a 3COM 3C905b-TX NIC. The PC's are fairly
easy to reconfigure, just have to reinstall sound, and display drivers.

I suspect some of our problems may come from our network mix - Novell
Server, Win95/98, and now the NT boxes, and possibly our inexperience with
NT workstations. I just hope they are a lot more stable than the Win9x
boxes. We don't have an IT person and just learn a lot as we go along.
    Thanks for the help.

    Hi Mike,

I have one of my Gateway systems using Novell Client32 talking to my 5.0, 4.01
and 3.2 Novell servers as well as my NT servers.

The access order needs to be set to the OS you are trying to run AutoCAD on.
i.e if you are running on the Novell Server, then Novell is at the top of the
    Access order;-)...

BTW, NT is much more stable than 95 and 98.
