ACAD commands SLOW on duplicate machine

Have (2) IDENTICAL brand new Dell Pentium 4 machines.
Windows XP Professional
ACAD 2002 (2 network licenses)

ACAD deployed from NT server.

First computer was setup 2 weeks ago....lightening fast..everything works
great..

Ran the exact same deployment for the 2nd computer today.

Install was successful.

however....

Open up ACAD, everything comes up, then the command prompt appears...and it
hangs up for about 20 seconds...
In addition, whenever we use "options" "plot" or "page setup" it hangs up
for 10-15 seconds....

any reasons for this madness???

The plot, options and page setup dialogs usually exhibit this problem when
the machine has some network resource (mapped drive or plotter) that points
to a location that either doesn't exist anymore, or can't be reached.

I have also seen it happen if you have a PC3 file that uses a system device,
and then you re-create that system device using a different driver, or if
that system device no longer exists.

Hope this helps,
