*** A question for Autodesk regarding DS1410D.SYS ***

I've installed the FlexLM licensing tools and files for a network version of
AutoCAD 2002. After rebooting the server, the "A driver, or service failed
to start" message occurs. It appears that the license tools, and files
installation makes a couple of registry entries for a DS1410D.SYS driver
that does not exist on the server, or as near as I can tell on the AutoCAD
2002 CD. This problem only occurred after running the AutoCAD 2002 network
installation.

What is this file, and could this be the reason the FlexLM seems to be
working, yet not? I can get FlexLM to report back the proper number of
AutoCAD 2002 licenses, but it won't allow me to successfully start AutoCAD
on the server as it says the feature is bogus; yet I am using the license
file sent to me by AutoDesk during the registration process.

In other words, FlexLM and AutoCAD 2002 doesn't work. I never had this much
hassle with the old Élan software. What happened to Élan? Did they go
belly up?

Thanks for any and all assistance.

I don't think that is our file and I am not aware of any such registry entry
that we create. I also have never seen a "Bogus Feature" error.

Where exactly does this registry entry appear? When trying to start AutoCAD
what is the exact error message? Are there errors in the log file?

I agree with Jerry but if you do a search file content you will find
"DS1410" (not DS1410D) in some file from Flexlm and Samreport.
What are the other Software on the server?
If you do a perform status Enquiry in Lmtools, what message have you?

The original of this message with attached file has been moved to
the Customer Files area
(news://discussion.autodesk.com/autodesk.autocad.customer-files
or http://discussion.autodesk.com/WebX?14@@.ee940b5). As Steven
stated, this file was too large for the VIZions group.

Hi Jerry:

I appreciate your help and interest in my problem. Today I
uninstalled, and
reinstalled the FlexLM tools and files from the AutoCAD 2002 CD.
This time
the DS1410D mystery service/file did not re-appear. However, I
now think
the DS1410D registry entry and service is created from the
updated LMTOOLS
at the Macrovision/Globetrotter web site that I have installed,
and
uninstalled.

However, AutoCAD 2002 still will not function, and I have
attached a zip
file with diagnostics text files, and a screen capture of a
couple of dialog
boxes. I would have placed them in a customer file upload
newsgroup, but
Outlook Express couldn't find one no matter how many times I
refreshed the
newsgroup list. In any case, files with the word "file" in the
name are
from the LMTOOLS routine reading the AutoDesk license file, while
files with
the word "service" in the name is from the LMTOOLS routine set in
services
mode. The license file is the one provided me by AutoDesk.

Thanks again for the help with this extremely frustrating
problem.

Hi,

It seems to be a problem with the Ethernet address that is not the good
address.
In the acad2002.lic you have 199117156073 but if you launch LMTOOLS and go
to System settings 00065b8f010f must appear.
You must demand another license file with the correct Ethernet address to
Autodesk.
Another thing : Have you a fix IP or do you use a DNS?

I re-registered AutoCAD 2002 using the ethernet address reported by the
LMTOOLS, and it appears that AutoCAD is happy now. Thanks to all for your
help with this annoying problem.
