Hello, last night I downloaded the student version of Autodesk 3ds Max 2012. After the program installed, I tried to open it.
1. A message popped up saying "3ds Max application has stopped working"
2. Then it goes on to shows two options, Debug and Close program.
I installed the Windows 32-Bit version. My computer also meets the system requirements (I think). I disabled User Access Control, and I disabled Data Execution Prevention for it. I have Windows Vista.
My specs:
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo
CP P8600 @ 2.40GHz
Memory (RAM): 4.00GB
System Type: 32-bit Operating System
This looks like a profile corruption issue. Can you create a new user account and check whether you could able to run your 3ds Max on it.

hey guys i found the solution, here is what you do, go to
C:Users/******/Appdata/Local/autodesk--- (make show you unhide your folders so that you can view the appdata and other folder that are hidden)
and then delete autodesk, then start 3ds max 2012 or what ever version you use
