   Hi, I have been trying to install my copy of 3ds max student edition for a while now. I recently had a harddrive change in which I swithced from win 7 to win 8 and my boot drive was switched from a HDD to a SSD. I still have the original boot drive pluged in with all the original data, but I am not booting off of it. My problem is that when I try to install 3ds max, it says it it already installed. I did remove the old install because it was giving me an error. Only thing is, I had to do it by deleting the folder, since the uninstaller was not working. I then deleted EVERY SINGE FILE titled Autodesk from my computer. I also deleted all the registry files with "autodesk" I could find. I even used CCleaner, RegCure, and Revo Uninstaller to remove any left over registry files or folders. It is still not working. If I try using RegScanner for "autodesk", it comes up with things I already deleted, and won't let me delete them either. Help me please!

Nevermind, it took me 30 minutes to realize the Fix It "run now" button on the side is not an ad. >.> and it fixed my problem.

I now get an error in the middle of installation saying mental ray can't install. It asks to makesure I have privileges, which I do.

Nevermind I just created another autodesk folder in the autodesk folder and installed it there. That fixed the problem.
