3DS MAX 2010 CRASHES ON STARTUP

Hi!

recently i bought new workstation (dual xeon 5650 cpu, 24 GB ram, ati hd 5800, ssd for system etc… and win xp pro 64 bit)

i have installed max and i got crashes on startup after installation.. when i want to run the product..

i tried to put differente grapic card, install it on other HDD, remove ram ... and still the same..

please help!!

There might be an application or service that is causing trouble. Try booting into Diagnostic Mode and start Max there. Post screen shots of any errors you get to this thread. Also check for and post details on the Windows Application Event logs and check for .log files in the “C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Autodesk\Adlm” folder. If there are .log files in the Adlm folder there may be an activation problem. Please upload the .log if you have it.

 

Let us know what you find and provide the additional details.

thanks for respond... ok, i found a post on this forum about some issue of dual xeons 5650 with HT enabled (24 cores) with mental ray that MR dont support more then 16 cores... i remove mentalray.dlz from stplugin folder and i start max and guess what!!! it starts!!!! so, whats your plan with this issue??

Which hotfix is that, as your link doesn't seem to point to a specific one? I've tried installing sp2 and hotfix 2010.06.08; but 3ds max 2010 still crashes on startup unless I disable mentalray.dlz
