2014LT fails to load in Win 8.1

In December 2013 I downloaded a new licence for 2014LT, having previously been a 2008 user.

All was fine and everything seemed to work OK, apart from a few known issues with the screen flickering. However, today, I have been unable to launch 2014LT, and there is no error message that I can offer as some hint as to why this is happening.  All that happens is the launch screen gets almost to the end, and then vanishes. I have updated the graphics driver (Nvidia GE 605 to 332.21) and carried out a clean boot of the whole system, but it still fails to launch.

I am using Windows 8.1 64bit with an Intel i5 core.

Nothing I seem to be doing can solve this frustrating issue, and the only clue which is not really that helpful is that the windows compatibility icon has stated that this is a case where it is not compatible. Which, if this is true, leaves me to ask, when will Autodesk make it so and issue a patch?

This is just what happened to me so I am talking from experience. I dont know if they have fixed it yet.

Everything was working 100% on windows 8. But as soon as I updated to 8.1 all my Autodesk products refused to work. One of my colleauges mentioned the other day there is a work around but he didn't want to tell me about it.

What I end up doing was restore my PC back to Windows 8. I will have a look what I can find to help

Good Call Darren. If you are really frustrated and fed up, just do a wall reset! It works everytime! You take your desktop or laptop (Laptop works best) and throw it as hard as you can against a wall!

Haha...Just kidding. Well I hope you can find what you are looking for

The wall reset sounds so so tempting... But the wall I have close to hand is only an old one that was first released back in 1985, and I am worried it may not be compatible for this action.

In the mean time, I am been out and purchased a Windows 8 Laptop, which I keeping away from anything that looks like a wall.  I will have to downgrade the 'problem PC' later.  I was about to buy a new Laptop anyway, so don't think I am stinking rich.

thanks for the help and tips, keep them coming.....

Reformat the HD and reinstal Win8 is the only way I know how to do that... Microsoft does not offer any other option right now.

They should get a restore option and soon because a lot of people are unimpressed about the windows 8.1 issue. I have people calling everyday about it

I am not going to hold my breath waiting for a solution from Microsoft either way. I get the feeling they dont care as long as the rest of the world buy their products, compatible or not.

Thanks for the help guys!

Slightly off topic, but did you all catch the news yesterday that Bill Gates spent most of the day trying to install Win8.1 then bailed and called his own support?
