We had an old PC that had AutoCAD 2009 on it and used the portable license utility to export the license to a thumb drive. The old PC has since been wiped and is running Linux. Fast forward to today. I tried to install AutoCAD 2009 on a new machine using the portable license utility and was told I couldn't do so due to the PCs not being the same. I have the exported 2009 license but I cannot import it to the new machine and have no access to the old machine. How do I go about activating AutoCAD on the new machine?

Thank you for the response. I've tried activating the product with two different serial #s and wasn't able to get either to work. The original said it was invalid and the second let me go through the website but gave an error when I entered the request code. I reinstalled AutoCAD to try a different serial # and no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Usually, when you get an "invalid" it means that serial number was used for an upgrade.
Also, unless you emailed someone today about a "request code", any old one you may have is no longer relevant, that was tied to your old PC.
If you want to find the correct serial numbers (calid ones), you can contact Autodesk Product Registration and Authorization:

Just realize it's Friday afternoon right now.
We were able to get it activated by reinstalling autocad 2009 on the old hard drive, importing the license, adding the new PC, and exporting the license again. A royal PITA but at least it worked. Thank you for your suggestions!
