I am begining a network installation of 2002, should I install SP1 on the deployment model before installing the clients?

What is ment by Locked and Unlocked versions of Autocad?

I would recommend for you to read the Service Pack
readme file where it outlines the procedure of applying SP to the network
deployments.  Briefly you need to apply the patch on the network image
using admin machine (machine you created the deployment from) and then apply it
to each individual client machine.

Even if you create client machines after
applying SP to the network image, you still have to apply it to the clients
anyway.

Service pack readme also talks about the difference
between locked and unlocked versions of AutoCAD.

Thanks,

Misha

What is the reason then to apply  SP to the
image if you still have to apply it to the clients?

Is there a silent install option? And if not,
why?

I was talking about network deploy of
the product which installs Program Files and the other vital parts of AutoCAD on
the server and only Shared files along with the desktop icon and cfg files
getting installed on the clients.  Obviously you need to patch both parts:
server and client.  That's why you need to apply the patch
everywhere.

Since the patch is an executable (not
MSP) file, standard MSI technique of silent install doesn't apply in this case
however since all you need to do is to run this executable anyway, all the
standard pushing tools can be used for that (SMS or others).  The only
difference would be that you will need to provide AutoCAD install image (as
patch requires original MSI) and you will also get a message that update
was applied successfully.

Thanks,

Misha
