System requirements -- Large polygon scenes -- Help Needed

Hi Area

I am in need of some documentation on High end PC system requirements for MAX.

I am in a terrible situation of having to defend my use of a high end PC
in a company that has standard pc configuration.

The IT department wants to replace my 2xquad core with a 1xduel process
in a standard cad config.

I therefore need some documentation on recommeded high end pc config for
doing architectural interior and exterior Visualisation and Animation using
Max with a Vray render engine. with models that can easlily reach over 1-2
million polygons.

They argue that the standard CAD Pc is what autodesk recommend and therefore
I can use that.

I hope theres someone out there that has some specs or documentation.

Thanks
KR

That is rediculous. Twin quad Vs single dual? You can pretty much divide render time by the number of cores. 2 cores will mean X4 render time compared to 8 cores.

For CAD maybe, but Max is far more demanding. You want a good GPU, lots of RAM and a 64 bit OS too.

Sorta reminds me of some commercials and movies you see on the TV or Internet... lord, they're so complex, you just know they rented supercomputer time to render the thing...
