Maya unresponsive when opening files or saving.

Hello,

I was hoping someone here could help me solve my problem.

Whenever I attempt to open a new scene or save my scene Maya goes unresponsive and the new window is just blank white. The problem also occurs if I try to set a file texture or set new project and so forth. When I check the program in windows task manager it is displayed as "Not Responding." However, despite this if I leave the program for 20 minutes or so it will come round and I will be able to open or save the scene or whatever. It is just very inconvient to wait this long to complete any of those tasks.

I have tried reinstalling and repairing Maya but the problem persists.

Any help would be welcomed.

I am running Maya 2013, 32-bit - student version, on windows 7.

Thanks,

Joe

try disabling the a:drive even if you don't have one installed; it's looking for it

What are the hardware specs of your computer?

Intel Core2 6300 1.86GHz, 4GB RAM, ATI Radeon HD 3800 gfx. Not the optimum spec but it used to run the program without any problems...

Can you try wiping/rebuilding your Maya preferences file and report back?

I deleted my preferences folder completely and its still the same.

If you create a new (empty) scene, save it, and then reopen the scene - is there a crash?
