Maya installation failed.

As a user of blender I have decided to branch out and attempt to familiarise myself with Maya with it being another leading piece of software however, embarrassingly I cannot get past the installation stage.

I'm trying to install Maya 2012 on my Windows 7 professional x64 install but it fails every time, with the following error log.

Can anyone please help me here so I can actually try out this software?

probably conflicting versions of the VS2005 SP1 redistributable
similar to this thread
http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/Installation-Licensing/Installation-Errors-for-Revit/td-p/3030072

up can try the same thing, see what version you already have. try to remove it. or download the current VS2005 sp1 runtime installer and install manually. there are .exe and .msi installers from Microsoft.
