After installing SP1 on our working Max2009 64 bit installs, the authorization dialog box now appears as though they have been reconfigured from floating network license installs to standalone installs. I know there is a way to repair this in the registry but pretty sure this should not have happened....
In my opinion, the correct, long-lived solution is to redo the install correctly. A quick registry fix is the kind of thing that can cause mysterious problems later.
Check "Help | About" to confirm which license type you have.
Max2009 install was done by the book and 100% functional before the SP1 install. sorry if that was not more clear but thanks for the suggestion. just a quick edit to point others in similar circumstances: area.autodesk.com/forum/Autodesk-3ds-Max/autodesk-3ds-max--3ds-max-design-2009/max-2009-sp1-changes-network-license-to-standalone-was-ate-my-baby/
