Max 2010 - Clean and complete install but it won't open...

I've installed, removed, and re-installed with the same results. I get the finish screen stating everything completed, but when I double-click the desktop icon it won't open. I've also tried through Start and through My Computer. The interesting thing is that the program icon in the program folder is the generic window and not showing as Max. I've updated the graphics driver as well. AutoCAD 2010 and Revit 2010 run with no problems.

Windows XP w/ SP3, Intel Core 2 Duo 3 GHz, 3 GB RAM, NVIDIA Quadro NVS 290

I uninstalled it again, download and installed the trial version, and that won't work either.

I got it to run by disabling "Application and Device Control" within Symantec Endpoint Protection through Add or Remove Programs. I restarted the computer and it opened up.
