Can't install MAX updates

Has anyone experienced this? I have a fully installed MAX 2009 on a Windows 64bit XP and the error "Error applying transforms. Verify that the specified transforms paths are valid" (from Windows Installer) appears when trying to apply the hotfix (2009.01.19). Irritated, I tried to un-install MAX 2009 and I received the same message.

Any clue as to what is causing this problem?

Two possibilities.

1) You downloaded the wrong updates - 2009 and 2009 Design are different updates.

2) Your msi installer may be out of date. Note. Not tested this - check the product linked to is the correct one for your system.

Thanks Steve! Unfortunately they are the right files and none of Windows Installer fixed this problem (they did not want to install probably of 64bit XP). I have 2 computers with the same spec's. Both Intel Quad Core's with 8Gb of RAM and 64bit Windows XP. Computer 1 with MAX 2009 had no problem installing the Hotfix while Computer 2 has.

I finally got about this by installing Windows Install Clean Up, un-installing MAX 2009 from the registry, Reinstall MAX again (on top of the previous folder) and then the Hotfix.

Drastic, but it worked.
