Avid - CAT

hey guys 🙂

I've always been a fan of AVID-technology, I came across Avid Xpress Pro in my video-editing cource 2 years back and I was just paging through its site again and I got baffled when I saw Avid has a daughter-soft called "CAT" designed as a 3DSM plugin for animation and alike!

check it out:

This might be outdated, I wouldn't know, but AVID is comparable to Autodesk, offering a bunch of software packs, although they're more in the field of video editing, this is where they overlap with Autodesk, supporting the animation within.

There is a little but significant difference 🙂

Avid Softimage

With the development of ICE for XSI 7, the core architecture of XSI went through a major revision. The new core, GigaCore II, has been engineered to provide stable and fast performance for ICE. It is fully multi-threaded and 64-bit, allowing users to scale the performance of XSI efficiently by adding more cores to a system.

Autodesk 3dsmax

Geometry cleanup and level-of-detail tools enable scene optimization for interactive display.

🙂 Sorry, couldn´t resist

Samuel,

Does this mean that XSI 7 overtook our Max?
