sql connection data resource empty(Map studio 2007)

Hi,
I have a sql data base having a table which columns is(CityName, cityID,x,y)
i made a data resource through this table by adding new layer to the
mapGuide studio and set it resources to that table in that resource. The
Geometry box is empty any other thing in the setting form is dimed also the
style pannel is empty.so i cann't set styles or themes or do any thing to
the layer so as well cann't preview the layer on the map
(This layer is representing a point layer with a oledb data source in
mapGuide 6.5 and it is working fine)

Hi,

Glad I'm not the only one struggling with this. My understanding is that the SQL column has to be an XML column - which presumably stores the geometry in a GML format. However in order for it to Mapguide to be able to see the geometry column you need to attach an xml schema to your xml column on the SQL server.

Currently the above is guess work.

If you get anywhere let me know.

regards

Done it!

Its not about XML schemas, the reference was to database schemas.

It works by installing a series of tables onto your SQL DB prefixed with an f_ (I have a series of SQL install scripts for these). The tables store key information about the database you wish to use in Mapguide. Unfortunately I don't have a script yet to populate the tables when you create a new database. My way round this was to get a trial version of Map 3D 2007 - which running on an XP machine I managed to get it to create the FDO database and tables.

Hope this helps

Is there any Autodesk documentation on this? I'm struggling with this also.

It appears you simply require an ODBC Connection to the data. In the interface for defining the connection you must indicate a Key column (cityID) and which columns are your geometry columns (x,y). You must also specify the coordinate system the coordinates are in. Unlike MG6.5 the coordinates are not restricted to Lat/Long. Note if you use a DSN then this must be set up on the MapGuide Server machine.
