UNC in SDF searchpath

The MapGuide help reads:

"Use only full local paths and Universal Naming Convention (UNC) paths.
Relative paths are not supported.

Copyright © 2001 Autodesk, Inc."

but when I use UNC in the SDF searchpath it fails, is this a bug?

What exactly means 'fails'?
Do you have the MapGuide Server service running under a user account, which
has rights to access the other machine?
