I have spoken to some of my product support associates and they have updated
directly from bigfix (visits bigfix.com). They say, never faced the your
reported problem. This might be more specific to your case.
Can we have, what OS you are running and any more extra information?
Have you tried starting the server manually?

Just a FYI..
To download and install the service pack:
If you do not already have the BigFix. Client installed, point your web
browser to http://www.bigfix.com, and download and install the BigFix Client
onto the computer that hosts MG.

Thanks,
Ramana

Hi Ramana

Thanks for the reply
The way I installed the sp actually from bigfix that alert me on new
updates.

There are 3 options and I pick donload the entire package rather than
internet installation.

My machine runs win2000 server sp2 with MG6 ver 6.0.2.6. Machine P3 800 and
the other machine is P3 600 (different vendors)

What actually happen is you still can lauch the apps but it is not working
since the normal indicator at the top (trafficlight green and red) both are
greyed out. Then I check the services control panel and there are no
service with name Autodesk Map Guide Server 6.0 appears anymore.

The question now I already tried at 2 machines with the same results, Is
there any sp I need to apply before hand and is our MG6 version is
compatible with the sp1?

Please advise since we actually need the new bug fixes at sp1

I had the exact same problem over the weekend on a Windows 2000 SP2 machine.

What I did was to first upgrade an existing MG 5 server to version 6. When
this was completed, my services list then showed "Autodesk MapGuide Server
5.0" *AND* "Autodesk MapGuide Server 6.0". Both services where set to auto
start version 5 was running and 6 was not. I disabled the version 5 service
and started the version 6. Everything worked fine.

I then applied the version 6 service pack. This resulted in my "Autodesk
MapGuide Server 6.0" service being completely removed from the system. At
this point nothing worked.

I had to completely uninstall mapguide from the machine and re-install using
the SP1 install. When that was completed, everything worked fine.

Hi Ramana

Seems more people shared the same problem, so what is wrong with this. Is
our setting totally different from your developer machine?

Thanks

I've also seen this problem. When the service pack is installed, the MapServer 6.0 registration is corrupted in registry. By just remembering to copy the registry key ([HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MapServer6.0]) before the service-pack is installed and reapply the registry settings afterwords, it will work fine.
