MapServer.exe Memory Hog NT4 sp6a

Has anyone had problems with the MapServer.exe chewing up memory or not
releasing resources? Intalled on NT4 with sp6a. I'm finding it necessary to
reboot the server nearly every week because MapServer.exe is growing in it's
need for memory resources. Is there a fix? Is this an issue with Windows
2000 server?

Set up a schedule batch process of reboot ing your Win NT each week or each
day is an acceptable workaround. Memory leakage is a Windows old problem.
We use the method.

I'm not sure how this article helps. I am experiencing this same problem
with nt4.0 and sp6 with mapguide 6 and I just patched with the patch that
came out on the 17th. Is that all I can do?

Does anybody have any info. on this? This is happening to me MapGuide
Server5 (with applied SP fr. autodesk) on Win2K. Memory is leaking from
dllhost.exe and mapserver.exe runs at 99% CPU a few times a day, which
causes layer access to timeout. Checked the code and it seems fine (no
infinite loops, recordsets, connections closed, etc...) So far memory leak
on dllhost running MG Server 6 does not do this with the same code
(different machine, Win2K). though there are other problems with MG6
preventing me from switching now...Any thoughts?

More Problems:

We are Running Mapguide 5 with SP2 and we have to reboot or kill the mapserver.exe proccess several times a day, because the Map Server Software hangs.

This is not nice as we have a 24 X 7 operation to look after.

Please advise!

Hi stefan

By right sp1 of mg6 fix your problem, provided that you can succesfully
installed mg6 sp1. To be frankly I experienced the same thing when virtual
memory reach 75 mb than everything is hang. Can share with me if you can
successfully patch using sp1? I give up mg6 for production and go back to
mg5.
