Keep in mind that I have no idea what Lumion is...

There are four option for getting data from Infraworks into something else that I'm aware of.

  1. Export a .imx file and then import that into Lumion (doubt this will work).
  2. Have Lumion connect directly to the .sqlite file.
  3. Export to a .fbx file (probably your best option).
  4. Use the "Send to 3ds Max" command and then use 3ds Max to convert to something Lumion can use.

As Brian said, FBX. Lumion (at least 3.2) will import FBX directly. Keep in mind it will take a while to import, especially trees... just let it work away at it .. its definitely worth the time it takes. In InfraWorks, you might want to export to separate FBX files (bottom of the dialog) and then combine in Lumion

Does iw->3dsmax link have any better material names support as FBX export?

What Lumion is? It's quite popular and easy to use visualization software for architects, check http://lumion3d.com/
