City Furniture

I am unable to add city furniture to my model.  I know the proper procedure because I can do it in the tiny town model.  But when I try to do it in the models I create, I am able to draw the line segment but nothing ever shows up.  The only way I have been able to get around this problem is by drawing a building and then changing the style to a car or person or some type of furniture.  I can add buildings, roads, rails and water fine, but not furniture.  Is there some setting that may be blocking the furniture from coming in?  I am running out of ideas.  Please help.   I am using 2013 AIM

Are you using the Draw Strip to insert City Furniture?  If so, to insert a model, you double click to place the model in the view.

I am using the draw strip and I am double clicking.    After I do that it spins for a while like it is about to place it, but then nothing.

Perhaps a bad install?  Not sure.  It should work by what I mentioned above.
