Error: "The database schema is unknown"

Hello,

I'm receiving this error when trying to open a model in Infraworks.  I searched the forum and the internet and was unable to find a reference to it.  Can anyone give me some more information about this error, what could cause it, etc?

We are running Infraworks 2014 Version 3.0.0.5006

The error #0, level Error, File databaseschema.cpp, Line 417, invalid schema version

Thanks,

Brandon

I believe that I have narrowed this down to an issue with an R2 or before product being unable to open a model that was created with R3 or R4.  Is there any way to gain this capability?

I'm experiencing this same error. Did you find a solution? I'm using Infraworks + Ultimate 2014 R2 version 3.1.0.10704.

Hi there,

In my experience, you cannot re-open an older InfraWorks model in an older version of InfraWorks once you have opened that model with a newer version of InfraWorks. However, I am not certain whether this is the cause of your problem, since I began using InfraWorks starting with the 2014 releases.

For instance, if you create a model in InfraWorks 2014 R2, then open that model in a later version of InfraWorks, you will not be able to re-open that same model in InfraWorks 2014 R2 again. From my understanding, this is due to enhancements to the InfraWorks database schema when new versions of the product are released.

The best way to address this is to make local copies of any model that are important to you before using those models in a newer version of InfraWorks.

I pulled this information from the "Work With Models" chapter of the InfraWorks 2014 online help:

"Once you open or create a model in this release of Autodesk InfraWorks 360, that model will fully support the new feature set. For example, it will support the new database schema and style definitions. However, you will no longer be able to open that model in previous versions. You can make a copy of a model before opening it. The copy will preserve the original model so it can be opened in previous versions."

Thanks for the detailed explanation e.rose!

I tried searching the help, but when you don't know anything about a product and receive an error message, the first thing you do is search for the error message (at least thats what I do). No success with my method!
