I want to look at the shadows cast by my new trees on a road. I am having a tough time getting the date set to where I want it.
I set the "Sun & Sky" under "Analyze you model"
I found it very tricky to get the dates to exactly where I wanted them (summer and winter solstice for example).
A slider that has about 1 1/2" of screen real estate and has 365 settings it tough to manipulate. I got within a day or two of where I wanted it but it took some jiggling.
Q: Is there an easier way to set this?
If not I'd suggest giving the user access to the date, clicking on it to give a text box where the date can be input for example.
You can set the Model Time using the Model Properties dialog box (http://help-staging.autodesk.com/view/INFMDR/2015/ENU/?guid=GUID-37F6C5CE-15ED-44C4-A438-194F1F32D74...) , but that could be problematic if you have features in your model with creation and termination date property ranges that are outside of the model time you set, because they simply wont appear in your model unless their valid date ranges are within the Model Time you have set.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the suggestion Elliott. I did as you suggested and set the date in the model properties dialogue:
Unless I am missing something I am not sure this is what I want since I still have to vary the date over the year and time over the day using the sliders.
By the way I could not access the link you provided, I got:

Impact_Infrastruture,
I see what you're getting at. Yes, unfortunately the sliders are the only way to directly manipulate what you are looking for. I assume that functionality will be improving as the program develops. And sorry! That was the wrong link, cutting and pasting too quickly! Here's the correct link, although I don't think it will prove much use for your goal: http://help.autodesk.com/view/INFMDR/2015/ENU/?guid=GUID-37F6C5CE-15ED-44C4-A438-194F1F32D74D
Best,

The sliders still exist and still sucks unless you don't care of a particular time. In fact, it seems programmed to not fall on an even hour mark, like 10:00. The closest I can get is 10:01. So unless there is a better solution that I am not aware of, the best bet is still the solution Elliot mentioned 9 years ago.
