A source for 3d models

In case you might be looking for 3D models to use as city furniture in InfraWorks, I found this site:

http://www.3dxtras.com/3dxtras-search-category.asp

All the models are free. Most are in .max format, so you have to open in 3DS Max Design and export to either .3ds or .fbx before attaching to InfraWorks. Some of the models are in .3ds format already, so no conversion is required.

You'll need to re-scale many of them and some just don't work, but you should find a lot you can use.

I have attached some snapshots.

Best regards,

Tim

Thanks, Alfred.

A couple of those make it pretty difficult to tell the difference between advertisements and the models being offered. It makes me worry about viruses, but I was happy to read the license statement on one of the sites, giving explicit commercial use for projects (but not for selling of the model in and of itself.)

There 's definitely more content out there than I could ever fully puruse.

I've found a new free 3d model site:

Thanks for posting that Vin3s. That looks like a great resource.

And another is the National BIM Library.
