Zoom performance

Hi,

I already installed the F360 update from yesterday, but may this thread is not related to the update.

(I use Windows 7 64 Bit pro)

I faced something strange when using the zoom-tool (see attached image)

I have only a simple cube in my scene. If the cube is unselected and I use the zoom tool I can zoom smoothly in and out.

But if I select the cube (it turns to blue then) and use the zoom tool again then it stucks.

It does not let me zoom smoothly anymore, it feels like irregular zoom steps, really bad response.

But if I unselect the cube again and zoom then it works smoothly again.

So it seems the zoom performance is dependent from object activation?

Please fix this in one of the next releases.

Thanks!

I just  tried this with a simple extruded rectangle on my end with different selections, and couldn't reproduce the issue.  Looking at your image, you did more in your design and have turned off visibility for some geometry and edits.  Can you let me know if you are on MacOS or Windows?  Also, could you do one of the following:  export and post your design here, share your design with me, or send it to me via email (brent.espenship at autodesk.com)?

Hi Brent,

I mentioned in my 1st post, that I am on Windows (Windows 7 pro 64 Bit).
I tested also on my iMac (MAc OS X Mavericks 10.9.2), there this problem does not occur. Seems to be Windows only.

I sent an eMail to you with the f3d file.

Thanks Thomas - I got your email and imported the F3D file to my dashboard, opened it and still can't reproduce any zoom lag with different selections (select body, window select everything / vertex / edge / face and combinations of those) as well as using my windows mouse scroll wheel, space mouse, and zoom command from the view manipulation toolbar at the bottom center of the Fusion Window.

We'll keep an eye out for this issue.  If anyone else encounters this issue, please post an update.  Sorry for "spacing out" on your OS from the original post.

Thanks again and cheers.

Updating the driver for the graphics card on the Windows 7 machine may be a solution to the zoom-hang issue.

What video card and driver version are you currently using? When did you last update?

You may find this information in your System Information file (*.NFO):

1. Go to windows start menu

2. type "System Information" in the search bar

3. Launch the "System Information" application

4. Browse to Components > Display (in the browser on the left)

5. Note your video card Name and Driver Version,

Alternately, you may attach the system information file by using the File > Export command from within the System Information application.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Hi,

I updated now the driver for my graphics card but no change still same problem If zooming a selected body.

If the body is not selected the zoom is smoothly again, so it is only a question of selcted body or unselected body,

I don't think it is a graphics card issue.

Anyway I have attached the systeminformation.

Thank you for the update, it made me think of the below settings...

Could you test using the Simple Display setting instead of the Normal Display setting the Graphics area of the Preferences?

Selection Display Graphics Preferences F360.png

I'm also wondering if modifying the Minimum FPS value may impact this issue. Would you mind trying a lower or higher Minimum FPS value, plus or minus 15 frames?

I am looking forward to your update, thanks.

Hi innovatenate,

thanks for reply, I tried what you suggested and it worked!

My Minimum FPS was set to 30, there the unsmooth zoom happened for selected bodies.

Then I tested 15 FPS but the problem persists. Then I tried 45 FPS and now the problems has gone, I can scroll smootly now wether body is selected or not.

Thanks for your great help!
