Patch - boundary fill - what is it for?

Hi,

in the patch workspace under the create button there is the option 'boundary fill'.
I tried to find a tutorial about what it does but I could not.

Can someone explain what this tool does?

Thanks a lot!

If you have a couple of surface bodies that enclose a volume, the boundary fill command can create a solid based on the the surface bodies.

Since a picture is worth a million words... Here's a quick video:

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks,

Hi innovatenate,

thanks for that video, basically it is clear now but there is one question left.

I do not understand the meaning of the tickbox 'Select cells' - what is this for please?

Boundary fill takes workplanes, surfaces and and solids as inputs. It intersects these shapes and finds all the closed volumes or "Cells." You can choose which cells you want and what type of operation you want them to perform.

Here is some geometry:

I have selected all the geometry and it shows the individual closed volumes as "cells. I have selected some and will use them to cut the model.

Here is the result:
