Got another part thats giving me problems. I am needing to extend the edge shown here 1.75mm. I need to do both sides of the surface.
When I try to extend the face, I get a modeling error. How do I handle this?
I will end up with a 6mm wide rib that I will then extend down to the face that below it. I just have to make it wider first.
The file is over the 1.5 MB allowed so I had to upload my file to here. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Kirk,
I notice that the entire edge appears to be selected in both the screenshots. I was wondering if splitting the offset surface body into smaller sections might allow you to extend in "one direction" at a time (if that makes any sense). Later, once the extend is complete, you may be able to combine the surface bodies back together. Just a wild guess...
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Kirk,
Sorry, I read right over top of the download hyperlink. I have the file now and am currently investigating this. The body in my file looks a bit different than the one in the screenshot, but it may be due to the angle of the screenshot. What was the surface body originally offset from in Fusion 360? I was wondering if it had any vertical faces....
Thanks,
Nate,
Did you look at this anymore? I tried offsetting the faces individually and that seemed to work. I cant figure out how to make the top of the new faces follow the countour of the upper surface. The problem is very noticable in the corners.
Kirk,
My strategy so far has been similar to your approach. I did a 'Perpendicular' Extend first. Next, I tried to offset surfaces from the perpendicular faces. Last, I was going to patch between the two offset surfaces, but I bumped into the same road block as you. The offset surfaces weren't panning out. I'll forward the file to development with the original issue that the extent fails with an error message. There appears to be some limitation, but I'm not sure that I fully understand it well enough to make an intelligent comment about why. I apologize for not having better news to share at this time. 😞
Kirk,
I was jus noticing that the body in that second screenshot is different from the file I have. There is a solid "lip" instead of only a surface. Could you share that file as well? Hopefully, I can work something out with that file.
Thanks for baring with me.
Nate,
Here is the "latest" version that I am working with. This file is "F3462-P42K-BUL-451-V11.f3d".
Kirk
Nate,
There has been a design change. Now instead of going 1.75mm to the outside and 1.75mm toward the inside, the outer wall of the rib needs to be offset 1mm out and the inside wall needs to go 2.5mm toward the inside.
Sorry for the late change, butI just learned of it.
Thanks
I am back to trying to do this in Inventor, but still having trouble, especially in the corners. I was hoping that Fusion would handle extending the sides better than Inventor.
If you know of an "easy" method to do this, I would like to see it, but otherwise, I am trying a different approach right now.
Thanks
Alias,
but the workflow is not as intuitive has Inventor our Fusion.
