Lost the line of symmetry

How do I get back the line of symmetry as shown in bottom image.

I am trying to insert new edges symmetrically as in the Razor tutorial.

Have you tried using the Mirror -Internal command from the symmetry drop down menu?

Thanks,

I am able to re-establish symmetry with the "solid" body, but not with the surface.

Well, I finally gave up, deleted the surface body and re-created it.

All is now working as expected.  (except that there is no mirror preview as I would expect to see)

Along the way - I tried to create Archive some files demonstrating this problem, but...  ...well I give up.  I'm back in business.  For now.

Would you be able to send the file to me so that I can investigate it for you?  You can either upload it here or email it to me at joel.palioca@autodesk.com It sounds like for some reason the surface is having trouble detecting symmetry between the two sides.

You can export the file by leveraging the hamburger menu and using export archive to create a local copy of the file

I suspect you may have been selecting the edge that you would like to be symmetric instead of a complimentary pair of symmetric edges.

Occasionally, the mirror command will request the user to select two faces and then two edges, and last, two points that compliment or mirror each other, along a plane of symmetry.

If the geometry isn't symmetric to start with, you may not be able to apply the symmetry to a sculpt body.

Hope that helps! Let us know if you have any further questions.

Thanks,

Is there way in which you can force symmetry? I.E. be prompted to choose the dominant or absolute mirror face to sacrifice/replace the other side of the plane?

I managed to split a model by deleting faces then mirror body then stitch but now the model is too complicated, with intersecting faces.

In case you have previously removed the mirror line because you removed the connecting t-spline or plane:

  1. Utilities>Repair body62B1A2D7-BD2D-464C-BEA6-502C8367B547_4_5005_c.jpeg
  2. Select the whole body
  3. Click auto repair

This should bring back the green (mirror) line.
