Extra disjointed surfaces created with Copy Paste

I did this a couple of times to make sure I did not have those triangular surface selected when doing a Copy and Paste.  But as you can see from the image - the behavior is not as I would expect.

Hmmm,

 

Closed Fusion.

Restarted Fusion and deleted the Body2.

 

Did Copy and Paste again and this time no extra surfaces were created.
