We recently upgraded (?) to XP-pro from Win2000-pro and are using AutoCad Map 2000. We routinely print Tiff images along with drawings to show streets, trees, and general landscape, etc. We are using an HP DesignJet 1050c.
Straight DWG's print without any difficulty. However, when printing with a tiff overlay, the plots now take 2-3 times as long as they did under Win2000 and the tiff image is substantially more grainy and has very fine vertical line striations.
So far, we have not been able to locate a Heidi driver that is specifically for the 1050c. The download at the HP site does not seem to help. Currently, the best that we are able to do is to use a Heidi driver for the HP 755c. We cannot seem to convince Map to use a windows system printer directly, but it seems to me that a Heidi driver would be a better solution anyway for both quality and speed.
Also, when we plot with the current setup, the system complains about an I/O confilct (and then prints anyway), but we are printing directly off of a parallel port and only have one parallel port.
Autodesk does not have a solution and HP support (so far) does not seem to know about Heidi drivers. Any help on resolving this would be greatly appreciated.

As far as I know, there are no new HDI drivers as Autodesk now recommends
using Windows System Printers. I suggest you search through the print-plot
newsgroup autodesk.autocad.print-plot, but if Map 2000 is the same as
standard AutoCAD there should be a check box HIDE SYSTEM PRINTERS in
Options>Plotting. Unchecking that will allow you to select the windows
system driver that you require.

Actually, AutoCAD and the vertical products do still use HDI plotter drivers
for all vendors except HP, HP has been the only vendor so far to build a
back-door optimized system printer driver for use with AutoCAD and the
vertical products.
You should check HP's website for the latest driver for your DJ 1050c for
the XP OS. It's been so long now since we worked on the 2000 relase I'm not
sure what HP drivers were shipped with that product but HP does regularly
update their drivers outside of the AutoCAD release cycle.
Thanks,
